Should you worry about customer reviews potentially hurting or helping your company? While most people take reviews with a grain of salt, some consumers will not buy a product if the majority of the reviews are negative. People put a lot of stock in what others say, especially when it comes to business and spending money, especially in today’s tighter economy. Therefore, it is always a good idea to keep an eye out for what people are saying about your company.

Customers Understand That Reviews May Not Be Genuine
Most people understand that you can’t always believe what you read online. Consumers who have done freelance writing work or have worked in the marketing field know that reviews can and sometimes are purchased. Positive reviews may also be written about a product by someone who may receive a positive review about his or her product in exchange. Therefore, these people may not worry too much about what others say.

It Is Easy to Sell at Certain Price Points
At certain price points, it is easy to sell products or services regardless of what others say about them. For example, consumers may not worry about buying a 99 cent eBook because the cost isn’t too great to take a risk on something that may not be what the consumer wanted. You also have to take into consideration the amount of competition that your company has. If you operate the only grocery store in town, the people in your market may not have any other choice but to shop at your store regardless of what people say about it. With that being said, you don’t want to take advantage of your customers. If you intentionally raise prices when you know you’re the only company people can buy from, this will often end up hurting your business in the long run.

Reviews Matter When They Come From a Reputable Source
If a review comes from a reputable source, it may carry more weight with a potential customer. It is much easier to believe what OpenTell customer reviews has to say as opposed to what a competitor’s blog has to say about your product. This is because a reputable review site will conduct a scientific study that objectively looks at what you have to offer to the public. Whatever conclusions that are reached will be based on facts and data as opposed to speculation and emotion.

Customers have the right to say whatever they want about your products and services. However, it is important to understand that not all reviews are written in an honest manner. In some cases, they are written by ghostwriters or others who have no connection to the company or have ever used the products or services being written about. This is just a part of running a business in such a digital world. While you don’t want to see bad reviews written about your company, they may not have any real impact on your business.
